Terms
These terms cover the KeyMic desktop application, this website, and the optional Pro and Max subscriptions. Using any of them means you accept what follows.
Licence
KeyMic is free to download, and you may install and use it on Apple devices you own or control. Paid features are optional and require a subscription.
The app and its source code are proprietary. Except where applicable law expressly permits, you may not copy, redistribute or sublicense the software, or reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it.
Accounts
An account is optional — the app works without one. If you create one, you are responsible for keeping access to it secure, and you must be old enough to enter a contract where you live. We may suspend an account that is being used to attack the service or others.
You can revoke any device’s access from your dashboard, and you can ask us to delete the account entirely — see Privacy.
Pro and Max subscriptions
Downloading and using KeyMic is free. Two paid subscriptions are available — Pro and Max — and are billed through Stripe, which handles payment details — we never see your card. Subscriptions renew until cancelled, and cancelling stops the next renewal while leaving your access in place until the end of the paid period. You can switch between Pro and Max at any time; Stripe adjusts the charges proportionally.
Paid subscriptions include a monthly allowance of AI requests used by voice features, served by our hosted gateway. The allowance counts successful requests only and resets on the 1st of each calendar month, UTC — if you subscribe mid-month your first month's allowance covers the remainder of that month, not a full month. When the allowance runs out you can keep using the app with your own API key or without AI features.
If a subscription does not do what you expected, email lorne@keymic.io and we will sort out a refund. We would rather do that than argue about it.
Acceptable use
Do not use KeyMic to capture other people’s input without their knowledge, to break into systems you are not authorised to access, or to disrupt this service for others. The app requires powerful macOS permissions; using them against someone else is on you, not on the tool.
No warranty
KeyMic is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. It runs an event tap and touches your clipboard; it may have bugs. We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data, lost work or other damages arising from using it. Keep backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Service availability
The desktop app keeps working offline regardless of what happens to this website. Account features — sign-in, settings sync, subscription status — depend on our servers and may be unavailable during maintenance or outages.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date at the top reflects the last change. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
